I think any breed will go through some noisy times occasionally, but for the most part, if you stick with hens or pullets, they're going to be quieter than roosters. Of the girls I've had so far, my Blue Wyandotte and Barred Rock were the quietest overall, just chatty. But both my Buff Orps (past and present) have gone on these loud clucky rants that I envision stir up the whole neighborhood. And one of my Easter Eggers gets squawky at times. Of course each chicken within the same breed will have different personalities and "talking" preferences. Maybe if you shared some fresh eggs with your neighbor, they might be a little more forgiving. Good luck with your search!

Appreciate all the responses.
A guy in my area has two Delaware’s and one brown leghorn.
All hatch on 3/27
$2. Each

Should I go for it ?
Has he said if the are pullets or "straight run"? If he says pullets, ask how they were sexed as vent sexing is the only method to have sexed those breeds and they are too young to sight sex.

Claims that they 100% pullets.
Whenever someone says 100%, I become concern.
Those breeds would be 85-90% certain if properly vent sexed...... if he ordered from a hatchery he may be relying on them, but when I sell my extras from an order I always disclose the are "vent sexed at hatchery" so people know there is that chance of an oops

Am in Dade county Florida, near Kendall
Looking to have 3-4 chickens in my yard. Last time I had chickens was over 40 years ago so my knowledge is extremely limited. Not looking to eat them as my kids would be upset but would enjoy the fresh eggs.
Which breeds are best suited for my area. Back yard is 1/4 to 1/3 acre.
Would prefer quiet chickens as one neighbor is very persnickety.

Hi Ponte. :frow
Welcome to BYC. I'm up in Northeast Oregon so not much help with chicken selecting. I go for the cold hardy type! :D
Make yourself at home on the roost and enjoy the flock.
