My name is Michael I grew up on a farm raising chickens and ostriches. We ended up selling all of our birds and about a year ago my wife has peaked interest in birds. She has become quite the encyclopedia on chickens but we are still newbies to some degree. I’ve been out of the chicken loop for quite some time so I decided to join the crowd. We started our flock of chickens and ducks about a year ago and we would like to expand to blonde or white emus. I didn’t mind the ostriches but with me traveling for work I don’t think she could handle them by herself. Hoping to learn some more while sipping on my coffee in the mornings.

Emus are somewhat better tempered and sociable than Ostriches. Please check out the Emu threads on BYC, especially those by Pyxis. She is the "go to" person for Emus, we are very lucky to have her.
