Newbie chicken owner here!
My chicks are about 3 weeks old now and I have six of them. Unfortunately one passed a way a week after we got them, we are not sure why, but she wasn't growing.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry a bit of a river for sweet lil Pip. We gave her a nice little burial with some flowers over top and that gave us some peace though.
Other than the turken, I'm not sure what breeds I have at this point (I bought a brown egg layer mix).
So far, I am loving having them! I set the brooder up in my "office" (and it's now hotter than hell in here, smart move on my part haha).
It's hilarious watching their antics, so no regrets. Gives me a good dose of the happy brain chemicals and who couldn't use more of those in these times???
I also love that one of the chicks, Gemma, has grown attached to me. She follows me around and loves to cuddle. Too cute!
Besides the chickens, we also have five cats. I'm surprised by how well behaved the cats have been!
The youngest cat (about a year) seems fascinated by the chicks and, uh, takes any chance to get in the brooder and lay down to watch them.
He's also tried to drink out of their waterer, but to no avail :')
As for personal life, my husband and I work from home doing foster care for two dependent adults (which we absolutely love!)
I enjoy doing artsy crafty stuff, though I have a hard time focusing and tend to rotate projects a lot (sewing, cricut, drawing tablet, regular drawing supplies, photography).
I also play video games and binge watch tv lol
Can't wait to talk with y'all!
