Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am not new to chickens! My family has had them since 2011.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 11 chickens. This spring we had 17, but most of the older ones passed this summer.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have a variety of breeds. Here they are in age order:
8yrs- Ameraucana
5.5yrs- Light Brahma
3yrs- Easter Egger
3yrs- Salmon Faverolle
3yrs- Silver Leghorn
8mo- Road Island Red
8mo- Barred Rock
8mo- Cinnamon Queen
8mo- Silver Leghorn
8mo- Sapphire Gem
8mo- Red Laced Wyandotte
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I really enjoy 'talking to them' and watching them play outside. They are mostly pets with the added bonus of eggs! I love how they each have their own individual personalities once you get to know them!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I bake bread, cookies, and take care of a sourdough starter named Poppy! I am also an all around animal-lover, full time.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
In addition to my 11 chickens, I have 2 cats, 2 kittens, and one dog!
