Hello! I’m Kellie, a newbie chicken person. Ha! My husband and I and our 4 kids live in rural middle TN. Other than our chickens we have a large dog (1/2 brazilian mastiff, 1/2 black lab), 2 indoor cats, and 1 outdoor cat.
Honestly I feel like I’m a newbie everything. I’m planting my first cut flower garden this year and we’re hoping to clear some of our land for a large vegetable garden. Some day I’d love to have bees too, but wanting a little experience with all these other new ventures first.
We currently have 20 chickens. They’re 21 weeks old this week. We know that we have 4 Buckeyes (1 rooster, 3 hens), a cream legbar, and a heritage barred Plymouth Rock. We specifically ordered the Buckeyes. The others we know because they were banded. The rest I have no clue. We ordered assortments from Meyer Hatchery. They’re all beautiful! We started getting eggs this week but we’re fairly certain it’s only 1 chicken since they’ve all look exactly the same.
We’re loving the chickens and learning a bunch!
