Hello :)

Welcome!
I'm sorry to hear about the not so great hatch, Jelly is such a cute name!
Best wishes on the new trill of farming and home owning! What breed are your ducks? I almost always have eggs in the incubator I plan on trying out duck eggs soon.
They're Cayuga. There are two eggs left that have made it to the final days (we had to throw out some that went super bad). So hopefully those two are just a day or few late. Fingers crossed.

Oooh, I love Cayugas! Praying your other two due well! I normally give the eggs a week after the hatching date before throwing them out, some times a week and a half if their shipped eggs. Who know's maybe Jelly will get five new friends!

Good to know on the extra wait time! Thanks. I'll make sure we give it longer. My girlfriend knows more about what to look for with the candling, bust she assured me that they look like what they should at this stage, just to wait now to see if they hatch. Did you do anything special for the whole week? Extra humidity, or heat, or anything of the such? No idea what the incubator type is, but I know she has the humidity around 67% and temp at 99.5°F.

My pleasure!
When the eggs are close to hatching or past the hatching date I stop candling, and don't open the incubator at all. Opening the incubator changes the humidity and will shrink wrap the birds making it extremely hard for them to hatch. Do you already have a brooder set up? If so, what kind of heater are you using in it?
