Hello!

Thanks I know we need both....she wasn't planned and we are working to get her proper housing.
Hello :) a big :welcome I'm so pleased you have joined us

I was in a similar situation and placed boards bins and chairs against the old coop until I managed too get a safer coop and run. I've also purchased lots of stronger galvanised steel chicken wire that can be used as extra protection.

Bless you for taking care of a stray that just wandered in.

New here at BackYardChickens. Started taking care of a hen several months ago after she showed up in my yard and decided to stay. Building a proper coop for her now. She currently has one I made out of a plastic storage container off the ground that gets covered at night with a towel. She seems okay with the current set-up and even laid me some eggs. Also wanting to learn more, I really want to get some hatching eggs soon. Just looking forward to learning as much as I can.
Welcome to BYC!

You would more then likely be better off building your own. I built mine out of old horse panel's and then attached the hard cloth wire along the sides and on the top. You can also add a roof to it in order to keep out the hawk's and such if you have any of those in your area.
Yep we have decided on a plan to use build chain link type enclosures with coops inside. We are in Southern Florida and don't want them overheating.
