Hi all!
My name is Vee & I currently reside in California. I stumbled upon this site looking for answers on raising chickens.
My father recently passed and left me his 3 acre home. He was more for the homestead life than I’ve ever been & I’m finding myself unprepared. He has over 100 chickens and maybe 30 quails that he was using for eggs to give to neighbors (they had a tradition of sharing their crops) & since I’ve been here I’ve lost 4. I’m not sure what’s killing them though my brother thinks it could be a possum. Can anyone give advice on what measures to take. They’re free range & I don’t want to have to pen them since they’re used to being outside.

Sorry about your father passing. Possums don’t usually eat a whole chicken. I agree with sourland about setting a live trap but make sure it’s big enough for a raccoon as they could also be what’s killing your birds
