New here. My name is Chris. Been raising chickens for over a year now and have a lot to learn. We are currently hatching chicks at our school in an incubator and have run into a predicament. Posted in the hatching forum a photo of what we are hoping is only the umbilical cord. So need advice on what to do. Don't want the chick to suffer.

oh, you again? I commented on your other post. it might live if you can get it to an avian vet, but it looks like it's insides decided to go on the outside.

That appears to be the intestines, not the umbilical chord. It would be in the best interest of the chick and you to humanely euthanize.

Welcome to BYC, Chris. I'm sorry for the little chick. Problems like that can be caused by an unreliable incubator, that doesn't stay at proper temperature or humidity, or because the hen that laid wasn't in the best health.
I hope the rest of the chicks do well.

Good morning, Chris, and welcome to BYC - sorry for the circumstances. Check closely, and if that is intestines, humane euthanasia is in order.
