Hello, I'm a beginner as well. I started a little over a year ago but it is fun. I watched and still do watch a lot of YouTube for chicken advice. I am close to my chickens and my husband isn't as attached and wants me to teach our baby that chickens are just a food source. I don't think it will be possible. Welcome and hopefully we can teach each other some new tricks! This is my first time of raising backyard chickens, did not know there was so much to learn ,I've been doing so as I go,wish I could have taken a class first.Did not seem my parents had to deal with so much with theirs, but they ended up killing them all about 4 years in to it .So my chickens are my babies,I love each and every one.started out we took in 4 hens babies( chicks) after she had to move and could not take them. Then after bout a year one hen went broody, felt sorry for her cuz eggs weren't fertilized,so I went to close by neighbor and got 7 fertile eggs 4 hatched ,that was in 2019 .
