Sadly, she did not make it.How is she doing?
I am so sorry you lost her. Sometimes, no matter what we do, they just weren't meant to survive. She must've had other issues that nothing could help. You did your best for her, so at least she felt your love in caring for her.Sadly, she did not make it.After a week or two of feeding eggs and vitamins, she was doing much better - walking around, preening. But eating was always hard. At first, I wrapped her up burrito-style with a bowl in front, and she would take it, but gradually she stopped eating (I noticed she only ate grass for a while). I then reverted back to force feeding like I did before, with vitamins, but it was much more difficult than before and she would spit it back out. She then became lethargic and the end was very quick. The deterioration was only around 3 days before her death, quite sudden for me.
I only had two silkies (a third was taken by a hawk), so I feel bad for the one that is left. I will either give her away or send her to freezer camp so she doesn't have to be alone.
Thank you @Debbie292d @Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive for your help!!
Mhm, I suppose it came at the right time. I likely won't be getting anymore chickens for a few years, so it feels like the end of a journey.I am so sorry you lost her.
