So I've been browsing BYC for a while for tips & info & finally decided to join.

I started my little flock last summer with 2 Black Australorps (at least that's what I think...black with a green sheen on their feathers) but we lost one them. I think she gotten ahold of a piece of gum in the yard.

So we waited through the winter and decided on a couple of Barred Rock chicks.

In addition to the chickens we have 2 horses & a cat, who is ironically my Aussie's bestie..

I'm very excited to get to know y'all!
 
Welcome to the site! I know nothing about Black Australorps but my Black Sex Links have the green sheen as well has a reddish color around their necks. I also have barred rocks and they are my favorite girls, love them

Yes, the Black Australorps have the green sheen feathers. So sorry you lost one of them. They are such a nice breed to keep.
