Hello! I live in Pennsylvania and this June (2014) we got our first chickens at few weeks old. Online sites (especially BYC) have been wonderful help to us in learning to care for our "girls". Without these sites, I would have been in panic a number of times.. like when they are sunning and appear to have been massacred! I know with these resources to help me, I can take the best care possible of these pets that God has entrusted to our care! Thank you!

They are 3 Americaunas (I think)... named after the powerpuff girls cartoon...bubbles (the reddish one who is mischievous & bit of a clown), buttercup (the one that first looked like small penguin & now is all black... she is timid & shy), and blossom (the one who starts out looking like a chipmunk and now is most lovely white with specks chest.. an has "mascara" color around her eye, & enjoys being petted).

Based on your description, you have Easter Eggers instead of true Ameraucanas. If you're not familiar with the difference, there is a good article explaining the difference at http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2011/09/ameraucana-easter-egger-or-araucana.html. Our Easter Eggers are my granddaughter's favorite chickens. She loves the different colored eggs that they lay, and they typically outlay true Ameraucanas. Good luck with your flock.
