I'm new here. I have 2 Pekin ducks that are 21 weeks as of tomorrow. One male one female. My female just had her 1st eggs today 3 of them! I'm curious as to what everyone does with the 1st eggs. I read that you should throw them away cause the 1st eggs are when the female is getting all the gunk out of her system. Is this true?

Welcome to BYC! You have an adorable pair of Pekins! What are their names?

I'm afraid I don't know much about "flush eggs" or not. Maybe someone with more laying experience can answer, since my duck is only a month old and is the worst laying breed of the bunch, anyhow. :p I would think they'd be okay? You could always try eating one to find out, ha!

The females name is waddles and the male is nibbles. Eh lol I'm not sure about eating the 1st ones maybe just Toss them and wait for the next ones. I'm very surprised I got 3 the 1st go round though.

She would not have laid all three in one day. They are at least three days old. A lot of the time there will be a break in between eggs at firs so they could be oldert. I ate my ducks first eggs and they were fine.

She must have because I go out everyday and look when I feed them. they are confined to a small area and all 3 were in the exact same place and there were none yesterday. I noticed them the minute I went out because they are right next to the hose.

Maybe she was backed up? I cracked them open one was double yolk. I looked online to see if you could look at the yolk and see if it was fertile and it said if there is a white bulls eye looking spot on it then that meant it was fertile and all the yolks had it...is that true?
