I have a chick that seems to have developed air or fluid filled sack on the front of its chest within the last few days. He has been acting normal so far however and I saw him eating today. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Is this your only chick? Have you raised chicks/had chickens before? Do you know what the crop is? You may be feeling a normal full crop, which is (normal), but if you have several chicks- and one has a much much larger crop- there may be an issue. Or you may just have an overeater, but as long as it empties overnight- no problems.

I have a total of five chicks right now and none of them seem to have the same bump on their chest. I have been giving them grit and have been giving them an occasional treat on top of their chick starter mash. They are about 4 weeks old.

It does sound like the baby's crop. This is the 1st place the food goes after eating to start digesting. It is right in the front of their chest. As long as you feel it is smaller at times, he should be fine. You stated that he is eating and normal so I think he's eating well!

sounds fine , i was scared when some of my chicks had that but i just have a few piggys in the bunch , i wouldnt be worried just check him in the morning see if the size has gone down in the crop
