Help. 48 hr chick still hatching.

If the veins aren't too big I do assist them carefully out at this point. I have 2 that started panting that I didn't help and they died. I swore I would only help if they did this, I have helped 3 since and they all lived. I have been hasty and lost chicks "helping" , but would help if I were you

O.k.. I removed shell and membrane down to under half the egg. Where there was still moisture. Tried to straigten it out. But it just kept bouncing back. It looked at me like thank God. It's head is strightened up more. And I am sure it is going to go to sleep and be fine in the morning. Poor thing. Thanks all of you so much. I would probably have left him alone another day just from reading all the "leave them alone" post. It just didn't seem right. I will post a pic if it makes it. Thanks again. Would like to tell my 3 girls a happy hatching story. Would like to tell ME a happy hatching story. LOL.

I took a pic but it wouldn't work. Couldn't get it to upload. Thanks Will let you know in the morning how it goes.

Just went back down and he is not breathing. I waited to late. He just was exhausted. I think he was to big. Worried about rest. This is very sad. Thanks everybody.

I am so sorry to hear about your little chick. you did the best you could for it.

Well messing with that baby has left my others in a spot. When I took it out I looked at the pip on the one that has started. I have entered the bator alot at this point. He broke thru his shell and membrane and his beak is sticking out. I can see inside and I see veins and the chick. Membrane is pure white and hard at edges. Read that link you sent me krista. Thank you. You will be this lil ones angel if it works. I have removed the pip around the shell. Left membrane intack. Got it watered down with my hands as much as possible. Am scared to leave a towel around it. Have put it back in and will hope and pray. By the time I got done he started peeping more. He had all but quit. His head is up. The other one was too big. You could tell. His head was up side down and there was no way for him to move it. This one has alot more room in the egg. I could tell right off. Lesson learned. 24 hours max. I hope this one gets humidity up as fast as possible. Even tho I think 1st was to big. I will have a way to check humidity by next go around.

I'm sorry about your first little (big) one.

We've had 2 like that. Now if I see the beak in a odd position or it seems like it can't wiggle around after pipping, I usually take some of the shell (not membrane) off around the top and side (to loosen everything up). It sounds like your on top of the others! Keep it up, and let us know how they are!
