HELP- 6 week Buff Orp that has blood in poop and crop issue

Oh speckledhen you are wonderful to help me with all this. So with both issues going on what do I treat first or can I put the Corid and ACV in the water at one time or will that intereact with the other.

You are a godsend.

Oh and I looked at your mini farm for sale and I wish I was able to move because I would make that journey and be very happy.

thanks again! You are the best!!!!

I thank you. I had to put another chick in isolation this morning. the crop was kinda squishy last nite and this morning. So the other 3 are certainly pooping alot for not having alot of food in them. Is that normal. I just order the Metro for the rest of them as well to have on hand if needed.

You've just switched this bird to new housing outdoors, and sometimes it takes a bird a while to adjust to new surroundings. Plus there's the heat to contend with. Heat makes birds sluggish and depresses their appetite.

If you kept this bird indoors previously, how could it have developed coccidiosis?

Sometimes intervening too much medically is actually worse for the bird than if we do nothing but offer supportive care. Personally, I'd hesitate to medicate for coccidiosis after a negative test. Could you post a picture of the bloody poop? Sometimes I see things in the poop of my birds that looks red and it turns out it's stuff they've eaten that has a reddish color to it.

I would isolate the bird that seems ill, though. That way if she has something contagious you're helping to prevent its spread, and you're also helping the ill bird avoid the stress of pecking order issues.

elmo: thanks for your input. I definitely can not mistake the blood that I saw in the poop. It wasn't in just one poop it was in every one she has done for 2 days. When I took her to the vet I had a sample in a bag and then she wound up poopin on the table and was blood in there as well. The vet suspected cocci and was surprised it didn't show up. I can't just stand by and watch them slip away and do nothing. I am definitley obsessed with my birds and go to extremes to make sure they are ok. They are sluggish and have the classic signs that something is not right with them. they were inside my garage until being moved outside.

I am at work but I will try to post a picture this evening once I am home and dinner done.

Thanks for your advice and I do agree that we shouldn't interfere but I know something is wrong.

Fascinating! So either it's possible that cocci can exist in the intestines of chicks in the shell (wow!) or the brooder may have been contaminated from another source...airborne particles coming in the window, for example.

I'm sorry you're having these problems, and I hope your chickens perk up soon.
