We are first time chicken owners! We have had 8 Silkies and 2 brown leghorns since April 2020. They are 2 months old now.

Yesterday one of the silkies was reluctant to move. It would take a few steps use its left wing like a crutch to walk, it looked to loose balance and fall to one side and just lay there. He/she is very alert. Last night we brought it in and it is in a box. Seems to be doing ok other than not walking around. It has an occasional sneeze. No drainage anywhere.

It is eating and drinking but we have to put it next to the food and water. Can anyone help? Any idea what could be wrong?

I would give some vitamins and electrolytes orally, and Poultry NutriDrench is very good. Dosage is 1 ml daily. Offer several foods to get it eating, such as watery chick feed mash, scrambled bits of egg, tuna, or canned cat food (only tiny amounts except for chick feed.) Was she vaccinated for Mareks disease? For now, I would assume that she might be dehydrated, and I would get some water into her. Watermelon can be very attractive and has lots of water. An occasional sneeze could be from dust in feed or bedding. Watch for any lameness in either leg. Here is some info about Mareks disease:

Thank you. We bought the Medicine nutridrench you recommended and it wont drink the water with it in it. Can we give it directly to the chick without putting it in anything?

It has been devouring the watermelon and tuna. Thank you for the suggestions. Where do we get electrolights? Can we give it gatorade?

It is not acting sick, it seems like an injury.

It is a white chicken. It is filthy from the watermelon and from going to the bathroom and sitting in it while in the box in isolation. How do I clean it up?
