Help!!! about two week old silky chick found in mud (pics)

Meantime you could run to store in the morning and get some pedialyte - non flavored. Use in place of water for a few hours. I'm pulling for the little one... hope he's strong.

I have put sugar in the water and sometimes that helps. Good luck. Maybe put a thermometer in the pen with them. I got some to hot once and they died.

Breathe IN, Breathe OUT. I know it's hard not to stress out when you have a sick chick but, you are doing fine.

I would worry less about putting it back with mama. Many chicks are born in an incubator and then grow in a brooder with no mom around. It's more important to get her/him well. Having a hatch mate in is very good. If they both have to stay in for awhile the weaker chick will have a buddy & when it's re-introduced will get along better than alone.

No one here is a miracle worker. You are trying your best. That's all anyone can do. Hope baby will perk up, eating is a great sign. Possibly it was bullied and not able to get to enough food or pushed out where it ended up getting walked on, wet and cold???

My opinion is if still alive tomorrow place both chicks back under broody. Less stress - less the chances of dying.

A resp antibiotic may be a good idea, if she got water in her lungs, she might have an aspiration pneumonia. I think Penicillin is good for that, too.

Sorry guys the little one didn't make it. It died in my hands as i was trying to get some antibiotics in it. Just wasn't ment to be. Brought momma and the rest of the chicks in while the rain and the cold front is going through. The other chicks all seem to be fine. Thanks for all of your support.
Mollie
