Help! Accidentally helped too soon?

I further opened up a call duck safty hole but the call duck hasn’t internally pipped yet. What should I do I used a q-tip to put some coconut oil on the membrane already. But I don’t think I see the bill anywhere, is it malpositioned? Or is it normal?

He may be positioned on the other side. I would put him in a separate container within the incubator and just keep an eye on him. Watch for shrink wrapping.

When I took it out to check I could hear and feel him tapping on the shell somewhere. Is he trying to pip? And do you think he needs to breath?

With the size of the hole you made he won't not be able to breathe after he internally pips. Try not to remove him from the incubator anymore or mess with him in any other way to reduce the chance of him shrink wrapping. If the membrane does start to get dry quickly apply some coconut oil. Do nothing else. It usually takes healthy ducklings 48-72 hours to go from pip to zip, so don't panic too much if no progress is made a few hours go by.

Looks to me like the membrane has been removed (white lining attached to egg shell).

@SliverBirds gave good advice ... put it in a "container" within the incubator & leave it alone, my concern is the membrane I see that has been removed & all those veins, it's not ready. I maybe wrong but perhaps applying an artificial membrane; tissue coated in coconut oil or there's this "paper tape" (for people allergic to bandaid adhesive) coated in coconut oil. Not knowing where the beak also a concern but that tapping is it attempting to pip. Will tag some I know may be of help here ....

Ok, so if the membrane is alredy off, do you know what the material covering the duck is? I covered that in the coconut oil.

I'm not sure but thinking it's another layer of the membrane with all those blood vessels. Hopefully those I tagged will be able to be of more help. I'm thinking it's a film so coconut oil on that will help but PLEASE be patient & keep us updated to any changes. Did you separate into another container IN the incubator?

Put it back in the incubator and leave it be. It's not ready.
