Help! Aggressive male quail!

Quail jailers right.... once they flip switch theres nothing can be done its butcher time to make some nice kabobs! There is always a few that end up going nuts... the bad part about this is it will be programmed into the genetics... the chicks will end up aggressive too... thats why its just best to send him to freezer camp. Its not worth putting up with problems when you can just hatch more out to replace them....

Yes delicious, easy to overcook if you're used to cooking chicken.

rename him to "tastybreast"

One of the many names for coturnix, is "Bible Quail"

If you happen to have a bible, in Numbers Chapter 11, verse 31 begins the story.

Personally I think these were probably domesticated at that time, and in the ensuing millenia all instincts have vanished.

Cots are precariously balanced on the sane/insane line and are pretty easy to tip over.

I just try to keep mine comfortable which seems to reduce trouble, I don't care what they do as long is isnt hurting each other.

That makes problems, I already have more problems than a math book.

( I keep colors segregated for breeding purposes, but as someone mentioned it does SEEM to reduce friction)

Looks like I'll have to size up some of the birds I have. I only have one bad bird right now and would have to slaughter at least 50 more to make a good meal for myself and the family. I have 350 birds right now so I have plenty to select from. Jay

I have quite a few family members, grandkids, sons and a daughter and there friends and if they found out that I'm going to cook some quail and not invite all of them, I'd be in a world of trouble. I'm thinking of cooking these guys over Mesquite Wood since I'm from Tx. and have 14 acres of it. Mesquite burns very hot so does anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks, Jay

I think they're easy to overcook and get dry. Anyone ever wrapped em in foil with taters onions and whatever?
