I would doubt that it came from baby chicks bought at a farm store, but perhaps from wild birds. But, since Mareks is world wide, hard to know. It can remain in one’s environment for many years after chickens are gone. The vaccine for new chicks takes about 2-3 weeks for the chicks to develop full immunity.
