HELP! Any tips on caring for a rescued tyson chicken?

Ohhhhh I forgot! Her eye has healed! Can't tell that she was hurt just by looking at her!

Rio has a new buddy. Since one of my bantom hens is nesting, and my rooster has given her full attention, my youngest hen , chirpy, has squeezed through a hole in the chicken wire wall separating the two breeds. She has a temper and has been mean to poor Rio, but they're getting along very well. Can't believe last month she was dying! All better!

What you have been told about the Cornish Cross fowl is correct. They are a cross bred chicken that is designed to reach anywhere from 4 to 6 pounds in only 4 to 8 weeks. I kink that you will be either disappointed or heart broken at the outcome of a Cornish X rescue. Do keep us informed.

Odds are this bird came from an egg farm. We collected some strays a few years ago after the egg farm was emptied. They did very well.

How about a picture of your rescued hen? That will tell us immediately if she is an egg chicken
or a Cornish Cross as they have very different body styles. Is your rescue Rio all white?

Tyson doesn't have any egg type chickens.

There aren't any chickens there that need rescued. Tyson is not interested in you having any of their live chickens. At the plant anywhere beyond the office you will be considered an intruder unless you are employed there or are invited in.

LOL. I was being funny. I have seen some on the side of the road that have escaped the truck. Several of my neighbors have chicken houses, I wouldn't want any of them unless they were roadside rescues. If you sell chickens around here, nobody buys the white ones. I assume they think they come from a chicken house.

Unless the truck said "
Tyson" on it, I was thinking it might have fallen off an egg farm truck.
If is an egg farm bird then it doesn't need the special upbringing the Cornish Cross needs.
