HELP!!!! ASAP!!!!!!!6/17/2014 catuion graphioc pics

Yes Procaine Penicillin G is what you want-it's kept in a refrigerator. Get four 3 cc/ml syringes and four 20 gauge needles. Dosage is 1/4 ml or cc, and some give up to 1/2 ml, once a day injected 1/4 inch into the fullest part of the breast muscle, for 4 days. Many people use it on their chickens. Pull back on the syringe before injecting it to make sure that you are not in a vein.

ok i looked it up the dosage is .10cc per an Ib use a 20 gouge needle into the breast alternating sides each time it must be given for three days at least

that's what i read hope it helps

edited to add be careful not to inject it into a vein

I want to thank everyone for their fast response and all their help, I know a lot of people view animals and soulless especially farm animals. My daughter shows pigs for FFA and they way people treat them makes me sick. They never take the time to get to know the animal and see that they feel, love and form relationships just as we do. So you see I love my little chickens and all my animals. I am just so upset over this, but I am so grateful to everyone for their help and for the backyard chicken for given people like me a place to research and reach out to others for help.

this today after 24 hours of antibiotics and the yellow is betadine/ iodine. I have tried to wrap her with a thin layer of gauze, but she keeps coming out of it. I am spraying the iodine solution on at least 3 times a day and she has had her 2nd round of PinG. However I am still very concerned it looks awful and I worry it want close up. I have read that you can sew them up but I am not sure there is enough skin to pull together to close the whole. It looks much smaller in the pictures than it does in person, its larger than a half dollar and its looking a little green. I am also putting Neosporin on it twice a day but it doesn't stay packed in the wound well nor on the flesh. If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks so much

you're going to have to cull that injured bird. fly's etc. very sad. Bantams can be aggressive. Welcome to the farm.

looking at that wound, you need to stitch the skin together, my experience is that as hard as it is. you will probably end up losing her. I understand you trying.
. try to stitch her. If flys have gotten to her nothing will help. so sorry.

what do you mean if flys have gotten to her???

I actually think the wound looks good so far. Stop the betadine because it can prevent healing, and just clean the wound daily with saline or spray it with water, then dry and apply the Neosporin. The green can be bruising which is normal. You don't want or need to sew this wound up because it is dirty. It needs to heal from the inside out, and it will start to get smaller barring any infection or abscess. Please don't follow advice to cull this chicken, because there are many threads of success treating wounds worse than this one. It may take a month to heal, but it should do okay.
