HELP ASAP - Egg hatching problem - What's going on?

just wanted you to know that I'm in the same boat as you tonight, only my chick didn't even pip. it has been almost 48hrs since the first egg hatched, and this was the only one that passed the float test (barely) so we decided to go in after the chick......figuring it had a better chance of living if we did SOMETHING. The membrane looked a little dry, so I'm keeping it damp with a q-tip, and poked a tiny hole in the membrane in hopes that it will trigger the yolk to start absorbing.

Movement is continuing to slow down, so I'm going to give it another 20min and then start removing more shell.

If it zipped in the pointy end, it's probably positioned opposite of what it's supposed to be.
Awww that stinks! I wish I could help! uggg this thread has info at the bottom, its a goose egg but he does the same with alll his eggs

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/491013/goose-incubation-hatching-guide-completed I will continue to search too, and if I come accross anything to add I will post, sorry!

well, I know why mine didn't hatch on its own! Severe cross-beak and some kind of growth/tumor/protrusion from the top of its head. It had almost completely stopped breathing, so I removed all the shell and then the membrane. It died within seconds of being out.

Most of the shell is removed and there's a small hole in the membrane.
The chick is moving, but the movements don't appear to look like the chick is trying to get out.

I have no idea what to do right now other than let nature decide.

ALL of the shell or just a zip you made?? You are keeping the shell moist right? can you see the chick through the hole? or just candling? Did the rest hatch? As much as I have read, you have to know how much you want to help, example from the previous post and if the chicks absorbed what it needs to and the membranes so it dont bleed if you help....give this another look it SHOWS how the membrane looks in a candle picI JUST posted this one this am... did u look at the end of this new thread i posted? https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/491013/goose-incubation-hatching-guide-completed GO READ the BOTTOM of this THREAD and LOOK AT ALL HIS PICTURES OF "pipping" candle

awwww so sorry, I have already decided that if I feel I should help mine out I will, ONLY because I have very few in the bator and this is my first shot at it and I have read that YOU CAN SAVE a good chic, and if I would need to cull it, my hubby will do so. plus I paid alot for these eggs.

It died.
We did have some others hatch though.

They appear to mostly be Fayoumi-Black Jersey Giants or Fayoumi-Australorps.

Either of those two combos would be great, since we're trying to get both meat/egg producers mixed with the feral type instincts and foraging abilities of the Fayoumi.
