Help!! ASAP, My sitting hen has mites and looks very droopy.

My poor hen just hatched an egg yesterday and today she looks very droopy and exhausted. She will not eat and barely is drinking. I think she may be dying! What can I do for her. Will Sevin dust hurt the baby. What can I give her to help her through the night? Pls. Help me her 1 day old chick needs her!

Use the sevin. I've had friends use it before on their birds with chicks with no ill effects. It sounds like it's either that or lose the hen anyway. I would also give her vitamins if you have any - like poultry nutri drench, sav-a-chick, etc. I also know that gatorade has electrolytes and some people give that to their birds in water to help perk them up. Good luck!!

And just in case, you might want to get a brooder set up inside with a heat lamp, in preparation for the possible worst case scenario...
