I have read the articles on this site about assisted hatching and what to do if the yolk were to come out. I had to assist a chick this morning , there was no blood, but the chick still has the yolk! So I put it in a cup and came back 6 hours later to see it made its way out of the cup and the yolk only gotten bigger! So I put it in a mug this time and it's staying in... The only issue is that the yolk is getting dark, it's drying up and it has burst to where only yellow stuff is coming out. This chick is weak and I really want it to live! Does it have any hope? Can I cut the yolk? Help please

Where is the little guy today? is he still alive? Once that yolk breaks, there's not a whole lot you can do. If he's still alive and is still in a cup, WET the paper towels, this will moisten the yolk and help slide it back up in him. However, if it does go back up, chances are he could get a yolk infection.

I think he did have an infection because it was really smelly, but the baby didn't make it. I had two little ones hatch today though and already have more signs of 'spider veins' in my other incubated eggs.
