Help! Attacked chicken!

Also should I force feed her or let her nibble grain ?

She might molt and not lay due to stress, but should lay again when recovered. Make sure flies don't blow wound. I would make sure she stays hydrated and don't worry about food for a day or two. I confine an injured bird in a small area and let them be quiet and rest. Laundry room in a cage works well. I have had good luck with unseetened applesauce tempting them to eat. Hope she makes it and you predator proof the coop because the varmit will be back soon.

Don't force feed her, I've always heard that you can kill a bird doing that. Just try her with different things, mine has not wanted much to do with grain but she eats up the chick starter food. The first couple of days though she just seemed to want to drink water. I think yours is more traumatized than anything, poor girl! Mine seemed like she was in a trance for a week.

Last spring my flock was attacked by a fox several times over a few days. I lost 2 birds & 1 was severely injured. A huge gaping hole had been ripped out of her back & her right wing was dragging on the ground.

We cleaned her up the best we could with soap & water, bandaged the wound in a way that held her wing tight to her body. I kept her in a cat crate for a couple of days but after that returned her to the coop. She has done great, a total recovery. I never thought it would have been possible.

Good Luck!
