Hi all!

I am new to the chicken world, we just purchased 3 Rhode Island Reds, and 2 Ameraucanas yesterday. I am sure they are just a few days old. We have noticed that one of our Ameraucanas is panting quite frequently and breathing a bit quicker than the others. She is eating and drinking well, her bottom looks clean, and she seems to be moving around, not lethargic. She is also laying under the light and doesn't seem to be trying to stay away from the heat. I added 1/4 tablespoon of ACV to one quart of water in hopes that this will give her a boost if she is ill. Is this common? Could she just be nervous from all of the change? Any advice is appreciated!! Thanks!!

Here is a pic of our setup and the chick as she is panting, I will upload a video shortly

Is there an area where your chicks can get to a cooler spot, away from the heat? She may be overheated. Chicks need a cool area to.escape the heat. Let me know;)

Behind the feeder feels cooler, but she seems to lay with the other chicks in the box near the lamp. Do you think a bigger box with more space to escape the heat may help?

Possibly- I think at least a place where the light won't touch them directly would be helpful, as you lamp looks like it is directly overhead of them. Maybe play with some positioning?

Yes, a bigger box with more area to escape the heat would be great!
For the time being I have moved the box and created a little "roof" hopefully this will help, all of the other babies seem comfortable, so I don't want to make them chilly. she is still choosing to sleep under the light, the goof! :)

if she is still sleeping under the light, maybe just gently move her to the shadowy-er side, see what she does?

I will go check on her, if she hasn't moved to the shade and is still panting, I will do that for sure, thank you :)
