One chick that hatched this morning (a day early) (though I had one had yesterday, TWO days early, perfectly fine) with stuff hanging out of it's "belly button".... I took a picture would it help to post it? Anyone know if there is anything I can do for it?

TIA!

How long has it been since it hatched? Sometimes the yold does not totally absorb for 24 hours. Sometimes though the organs are born on the outside. Though probally a little graphic go ahead and show a pic.

im not going to lie, that doesnt look like a yolk sac to me. but is he still vigourous? i mean walking around and stuff? just wait and see i guess. fingers crossed!

He is moving around. I had a chick in my last hatch with the same exact problem, though it was bleeding heavily and slowly became lathergic and then died. It was chirping, and chirping, then just stopped. It was so sad... just broke my heart. I don't want that to happen again.

This one, btw, is not bleeding.... but it doesn't look good to me...

Sorry same here. I had a chick with the yolk not absorbed and it died, but I also had another that wanst as bad any he is just a little smaller than the rest of his flock mates.

I've had 2 chicks that were like this, different batch of hatches. Both ended up fine, they absorbed most of it, and the rest dried and fell off in the brooder. The fuzzbutts get in a hurry to hatch and pop out not finished. But I learned something when I posted my own question about what to do, and some suggestions to me were to DEF use the rubber shelf liner as it helps in being a softer surface when they tend to drag their bellies when first hatched. And make sure none of the other chicks can get to it and either pick or step on it. Just passing on the information I got and used. Good luck!
