HELP! BABY CHICK WITH SWOLLEN EYE!

When my chicks arrived from the P.O only her eye was swollen. I've used saline drops 2 times a day for 2 days in her eye. The swelling seemingly went down, but has not gone down since. I went to tractor supply and bought some ophthalmic gel because I had read on this site that it'd do her some good. She doesn't seem to like it, she keeps shaking her head and trying to scratch her eye, so i hold her until she seems comfortable. She's such a sweetie, eats and drinks just fine, only about 5 days old. Any ideas as to what it could be?

I just talked to a vet and she said to giver her an oral anti-inflammatory to help with the pain. She might've been pecked by the others and has blood in her eye. It should clear up in a few days, I don't know. Does this mean she'll lose her eye?

Pecking is a common injury to eyes. Do you see any blood in her eye or just swollen tissue when you open the eye? I would put a small dab of antibiotic ointment in her eye twice a day. She is awfully young to give anti inflammatory drug to. Did the vet prescribe one?
