Help please! I just finished a round of incubating 7 eggs. 6 hatched successfully and have been moved to the brooder. The last egg pipped over 48 hours ago with minimal progress. The chick was trying to get out consistently and I was always seeing movement within the egg and chirping to let me know the chick was alive. Today I was afraid of losing the chick because the membrane was turning dark brown and the chick was really so I did an assisted hatch and the membrane was so dry the chick was too stuck to get out. Now that the chick is out, it’s laying on its side with its eyes closed and it’s feet shaking. It also has white pasty stuff stuck to its stomach. Right now I just have it in the incubator on its side to keep it warm and let it rest. Any ideas or advice on anything I can do to help this baby?

If it’s still on its side try taking it out of the incubator. Place it in a cup with either a paper towel under it or line the cup with a wash cloth. Then place it under a heat lamp. Make sure it doesn’t get any hotter than 95 degrees.
