Help baby chick won’t stop crying

If you absolutely cannot find any other chicks, you will have to give this chick as much company as possible.

I once had a single chick from a bad hatch. When he was three weeks old and needed less heat, I would move him into a smaller cage that I took around the house from room to room with me. I even took him with me when I went out, in a pet carrier. When he was around 8 weeks old I started making diapers for him so he could sit with me.
Fortunately I work from home so I was able to give him plenty of time. Mirrors did not interest him at all, though. In fact he was scared of his reflection. He was also scared of my outdoor flock and my attempts to integrate him failed miserably.

I ended up keeping him indoors as a house pet... 18 months later, here he is on my lap:
