One of my baby chicks (week old at the most) was attacked by some dogs yesterday. No visible injuries, but it seems like there are some serious issues with her legs. She was laying flat yesterday with her legs straight out behind her for a while. Now, her legs are back under her normally, but she won't move unless one of the other chicks bumps her, and then, she stumbles a lot. She can still chirp, and her breathing seems a little heavy, but mostly okay. She won't eat or drink though.

Any advice? And do you think she'll be okay?

Eating is secondary, liquids are key. Dehydration is deadly fast.

Use a vitamin/electrolyte mix if you have it since it sounds like the chick is in shock. I really like poultry nutri french because it has amino acids, but any should help.

It's good that she has her legs back under her! Heavy breathing is a sign of stress and sometimes system failure as it nears.

To get liquids down... I hold the chick in my hand with their beak facing a bend in my finger (to help direct the drop) and drip a drop of water just below the nostrils. When it rolls around into the beak the chicks instinctively swallow.

@Wyorp Rock @rebrascora... experience or suggestions here?

I agree with @EggSighted4Life getting her hydrated is most important. 1-2drops of Poultry Nutri-Drench would be good if you have it.

Even if you didn't find external injury like cuts/wounds - dogs squeeze their prey. From your description she may have some nerve damage or internal injuries.

I also agree the heavy breathing is stress and/or pain - carefully feel your chick just to make sure there are no lumps that are bubbled out on her - sometimes a ruptured air sac can occur with injury - the lump would feel like it's filled with air.

She may get trampled in the brooder with other active chicks. If you have a way to make a barrier in your brooder so she can still see/hear the others but she is protected, warm and has her own food/water that would be good.
