One of my ameraucana chicks is extremely lethargic and won't eat. I can make her drink some water but I am very worried about her :( PLEASE help! Does anybody know what I can do?! I am trying to feed her eggs but she won't eat :(:( She seems to be panting a little bit but I've adjusted the temperature and it doesn't change. The other chicks are happy. I have no idea what is wrong. She seems to not have much strength.

Not all chicks are meant to live. There might just be something wrong with her. When you deal with living animals you sometimes have to deal with dead animals, that’s an unfortunate fact of life. But don’t give up without a fight.

Immediately take a medicine dropper or something like that and put a drop of sugar water on the tip of her beak. If you have any of that hummingbird syrup, dilute it some and use that. Or just mix some sugar in water. The idea is to give her something that will give her energy right now. Don’t drown her by putting that down her throat. Just put a drop at a time on the tip of her beak. She should drink it.

You can find electrolytes at the feed store. That should be your next stop. But get some fluid and energy in her now. And keep her warm.

    Good luck.
