HELP! Baby chicks and worms!

Hey...I'm new too and I have asked some really weird questions too. Everyone here is very helpful and sincere so no worries. In a week or two you will start being able to answer posts yourself based on your own experiences with your babies.

FYI....there is a medicinal herb called "wormwood" that is used for the treatment of worms. I ordered some seeds of it to grow it myself from pinetreeseeds.com and hopefully learn how to use it if/when needed for my farm animals and pets. I don't know the first thing about it or how safe it is but I bet you could find out at the health food store.

Good luck to you and your pretty new chicks!

Thank you everybody for your responses. I am thinking that maybe it was uncoiled poo because when my son got home from work he had the nerve to squeeze it with his fingers. It broke apart pretty easily. I tell you it really looked like a worm and even the folks at the feed and seed were pretty convinced. It still is possible it was something from the feed but they seem fine and I am not going to treat them with the poison. I will continue to hover over them like any mother hen would do!

You should probably relax a bit. Chicks are pretty resilient. Awful things do happen, but really not that often.

Most folks here have found that feed store personnel are not very knowledgeable. I think you will find that BYC is a lot more reliable. It represents the experience of a lot of people. Unfortunately, that is often the best we can do, as research is limited. I feel this is why BYC is so popular.
