I have a Bantam who is laying for the first time and in the past 3 weeks she has laid almost every day...Problem is the eggs are almost round...not oval at all but they are not a perfect round...anyway...will this cause problems with any chicks which might be forming...since the hen does have a roo...I am worried about the air-sac not being able to supply properly to the chicks as they are developing. Anyone else have a hen who is laying or has laid round/ish eggs and have them able to hatch without problems for the chicks. I paid a decent price for this hen and roo and love them no matter what...but I was hoping to breed them and try raising their line. Will she come out of this round phase or what...my other young hen who is laying for the first time has longer shaped eggs...the hen with the "round" eggs was hatched around beginning of June 2012...and none of my hens laid during the winter which is alright with me, since I wanted to incubate some eggs and think spring is a good time to do it.

If every thing else is right with the egg it should form an air sack. If you want to see leave one sit for a few days. Then hard boil it that will freeze the air sack in place so you can see where it is.
