HELP!!!! beak injury

Nothing is working now that tip is practically gone. And the swelling isn't going down. And we have to go to a vet to get antibiotics to get rid of infection. Is there any antibiotics that we can give her that won't require a vet visit? We just dont have the money for a vet. Please help I'm really out of options and we don't know how to save that tip. Please help. She's our firsts and only chicken and can't stand to loose her. Please help

I am not an expert, but I personally don't think this bird needs antibiotics. It does not look infected to me. I think it is healing as it should and that top rounded part will grow out. Leave that lower section of the top mandible just as is so she can still pick up food. Keep the food wet and moist so it is easy to pick up. But I don't see any infection there. The tip of this beak is going to take about 3 months to grow out, but I think it will be just fine over time.

Keep us posted! It helps to document the growth with pics so you can see how it is coming along. It is too easy to not see it grow if you are looking at it all the time. So pick a day of the week and take a pic of the beak. Do this every week and I think you will start to see it grow.

I've only seen it shrink. And thin out and it's been almost a month since the original incident

It seems natural that the skin under the beak material would have fallen off. But I would think the beak itself will continue to grow. The beak is like fingernails, they never stop growing. So you think the hard part of the beak is shrinking back?

Yes. Since the original injury which is above the thin part the tip has been getting thinner and thinner which is causing it to shrink back to. It looks about ready to snap off

how did she hurt her beak? looks like the comb is black? I think 2crow is right though it may look very funny as it heals, as long as she can eat, honey has a natural antibiotic so maybe some feed or oatmeal with a little honey and maybe some yogurt (plain) would be good to boost her immune system. chickens are amazing they come through a lot with little help from us. Hope she does well

Out new dog ran at her coop and she freaked out started jumping and flapping and she hit her beak on the wire it like scared off that part of her beak. She was bleeding to and it didn't look all that bad but now it does. And yes her comb is a black/grey color. So are her legs.

I just don't know what will happen if she looses that whole part of her beak
