Help-beak problems-PICS

When I worked at the vet we used a dremel with a sander thing on the end turned on the 1 or 2 setting for beak trims. The heat created from the friction works like a cautery. The thing is, what is CAUSING the beak problem. Sometimes vit A deficiency can cause weird beak issues but maybe it's from the stock or malnourished hens that laid those eggs, etc. I would trim the beaks back and see what happens - maybe up their protein? Feed some boiled egg with their starter, etc. Or perhaps its a Wyandott thing. Maybe you could google genetic deformities in the wyandott breed. Just my two cents.

Oh good! It looks like you got some advice today. Perhaps there is no real cure but you might be able to save their little lives and they might turn out O.K. Giving weak chicks crushed egg yolks is good as well as a little sugar water (1 Tablespoon in a quart of water) to energize them also works. See if you can file that top beak back. Easy for me to say. Best of luck and keep us posted on progress.
