Heres a question I have.. if I just did deworming and their last treatment was yesterday... is safe now.. to go ahead and add the corid to the water too... for the rest of the flock????

also.. their is some bubbly mushy section under the crop area????
You have mentioned the airsac.. but would a needle.. in which we did twice yesterday .. would that have elliviated it..

In chickens.... do they have that mushy area bubbly area.. size of golfball.. in their crop area.. or upper chest... is that normal??? or is it not suppose to be mushy there???

I ask this because I still wonder even myself if its an air pocket kinda thing.. or even a serema.. trapped fluid
Unless... one says... oh they all get that mushy pocket like thing???? then I know thats not any issue then

but are chickens suppose to have that mushy pocket area???????????????????????????????????????? and when you feel the throat area.. is it suppose to have like a bone kinda thing you can feel???? just trying to learn what is normal.. to feel.. down the neck and throat and upper chest of a chicken

xoxoxo

Mine had mushy chest with the Cocci. I didn't touch it just gave them Sulmet.

I ended up having to give corid once only a week after worming. One of my girls had confirmed cocci (took a fecal sample to the vet). I had wormed them because I thought that was what the problem was.

I was scared to treat with corid so soon after worming, but it went just fine.

My girl also had a mushy crop, wasn't eating much and had watery stools with no obvious signs of blood.
I ended up getting her to eat by mixing canned salmon with plain organic yogurt. After just two days of corid she was back to her normal self!

Good luck with the little one.

same.. just a puff ball.. wont drink.. wont eat.. and I think the wont eating I can tell.. because their is no solid poo.. the poo that I see.. is just solid white.. when dried and a big splash of it.. he is in a cardboard box with a towel.. food and water..
so half the box is not with anything in it.. so I can check his stools out.. and what I see is just white.. going to go check on him again..
thanks so much

Hi, just checking in to see if there is any improvement? I was hoping after getting a day of corid that you might notice a difference. Just wish there was something that could be done for the poor little thing. wanted you to know I am thinking about you both.

The exact same thing is happening right now with my D'Uccle pullet. She seems to be going downhill as well. Started a little sneezing now. Shes in the basement with a heat lamp, food and water. I just dont know what else to do. Im afraid she's not long for this world. Sad.

No antibiotics. I don't know where to get them and I don't know exactly what's wrong with her now. I thought it was her crop, and tried to treat that. Now....

Im going to admit that I think I royally messed up and may have contributed to her downfall. I tried to give her veggie oil through a tube, as I read to be done for crop issues, and I may not have gotten the tube far enough back and flooded her lungs yesterday. I am SOOO sad and I feel TERRIBLE. There is gurgling when she breathes at times and she was stretching her neck to get breath. She DID attempt to eat a bit of medicated feed, but not much. She ate a decent amount of canned sweet corn today and had a little more substance to her poo, but still not doing very well.

I am going to give her some scrambled eggs and see if that helps a bit. She is sleepin g fairly comforably under the heat lamp and is at least aware and semi alert, so maybe she will pull through.
