HELP Birds attacking each other!!

Always carry a water bottle with you and squirt the bully with water when you're there. You can also buy antipecking sprays but I didn't find them to be of much help, with my bald ex-batt I covered her whole bald area in a sudocreme, the other girls didn't seem to like that - not sure it's something you'd want on feathers though.

I found separation to be the best thing for hens who were "too big for their boots", only took 2-3 days and they were much calmer.

Good luck x

Yes Yes...thank you.....I did just that.....I sprayed the bully every time she tried to peck the hen she goes after....seems to work pretty well. I don't know what happens when I'm not out there, but I certainly can tell a difference when I am.

****, I've lost 7 hens( out of 17) this winter do to pecking each others butt, and egg bound, they peck so fiercely that they pull her insides out and she bleeds to death, all rhode island reds all 7 months and all hens no roosters, the seventh one is dying as i type

we have some major overhauling to do on the coop this spring, with raising the perches, and maybe other modifications, the coop is about 6ft by 8 ft. and 6 ft high, any suggestions welcome

also i did notice a hen chest butting others hens today while i cleaned out the coop (finally it was warm enough for this chore), so i was thinking she was the ring leader, her face also had blood on it , i put her inside for now, hoping it will calm her down a bit from being such a bully
