Help! Black & White Cat in Trap. Smells Bad.

:lau

Cover up the trap, you just have to muster up some courage and make a quick toss. They won't spray you if they can't see you. Then you can open up the covering on the working end and release Kitty. Far far away I suggest.

Ah, thank you! That makes sense. I guess I'll try. He seemed really docile. I was talking to him the entire time, and he just laid there, snoozing. He startled a bit when I turned the camera on, but didn't spray. So I'll try that suggestion!

It's Pepe Le Pew! :D I would take him to a remote location, open the door and allow him to let himself out. Oh wait...will he spray if you move the cage? That I don't know. Maybe put a blanket over the cage and move slowly?:idunno Good luck with that.

Oh crumb...I just realized that a small section (no wider than 2 feet) of our chain link does NOT have the plastic slats in it. It's just regular chain link....which they could put their head through. ARGH. Will have to get the slats for it.

Thank you for the information! I walked around the entire back yard, and there were no holes. The largest gap in the fence was about a 2" gap where the chain link fence pole doesn't quite meet the garage. The chain link itself has slats in it, so there are no holes over a half inch there. I did not see any gaps or spaces larger than 2". I'm stumped.
My neighbor recently had a litter underneath her front stoop. The mama dug out a wheelbarrow full of dirt and the opening was 2-3 inches high. I never would have believed anything but a chipmunk was under there except for the incredible amount of dirt that came out. Yours looks pretty small, like a juvenile, I would believe it could squeeze through a 2-inch space.

Likely squeezed through there then. If its a smaller sized skunk it could squeeze through chain link.

Yeah, I think it did. I'll be getting another batch of slats and finish up that tiny section. I never thought about it before since it was such a small section. But now that I'll be getting chickens in July, I need to get things more secure (as well as finish up that run!)

Thank you all for your comments!

Below is a picture of the fence section that still needs slats.
