Help! Bulge on My Hens Head Near Eye

My hen developed a bulge on the right side of her head located behind her eye this afternoon. She hasn’t changed her behavior that I’m aware of. She’s full of energy and curious, eating and drinking as usual. So far I can’t figure out what it is, so I’m not sure what to do to help her. None of my other hens are affected.

Welcome to BYC.Does the swollen area feel soft or firm? That can be a sign of some types of respiratory disease with sinus infection, but it also could be from a sting or peck wound. I would look for any bubbles or foam in the eye, drainage from nostrils, sneeze, or swallowing mucus. If younsuspect a respiratory disease, you can sometimes get Tylan50 injectable and some syringes with needles from some feed stores. Dosage is 1/4 ml per pound given orally (remove the needle) 3 times a day for 5 days.
