Help! Can’t tell sex of barred rock!

Were they from the pullet bin or straight run?
Straight run from tractor supply. I should have known better. I’m pretty sure ALL my leghorns I got from there are Roos too. But I was told to wait because some pullets can look like Roos while developing? I did get 5 ISA pullets though thank goodness. But yeah.. 10/10 straight run are Roos

Oh yeah. The guy at my tractor supply told me that they out all of the males in the straight run box. The only females that end up in there are either wrongfully sexed or just the last of the bunch that wasnt sexed at all.

That’s horrible luck, I’m sorry. 😭

I had similar luck when I hatched for the first time in November. 8/9 boys. 😭

Still have one of them.

And they do look like boys to me too but I would still wait to be sure because Leghorns have huge combs in general, even the girls, and also my Barred Rock had a massive comb too and a lot of attitude and she was a definite girl so you can’t always tell. Although all their combs do look very red for that age so that’s not a great sign but the comb/wattle size alone doesn’t necessarily mean boy.

I hope you get at least some girls. :fl

That’s terrible! But makes sense. Guess they don’t really have anywhere else to put them.

The third one is the one I’ve been back and forth with. It’s mostly black. But then the comb looks huge. I guess that’s what I get for not knowing how to sex chicks 😭
You should be able to look at the tail feathers. Are they pointed and undefined with a downward curve? Or are they nice, symmetrical with rounded tops? The latter would be a hen.

Wow, rotten luck. We bought 4 straight run Wyandotte’s from TSC and only one was a rooster.

That’s so unfortunate 😭 I tried looking at the tail feathers. 3 have tail feathers that are more pointy and curve down. The other 2 have rounded tail feathers that point straight up

The comb and wattles, lack of tail feathers, thick legs, all point to boy. Can you get an up close pic of the 2 with round taio feathers? What about the hackle (neck) feathers?
