I have a question about candling peafowl eggs. I've hatched out ducks before but I've never been good at candling (and this is my first try with peafowl which I've heard is really hard). I think the problem lies in a crappy flashlight. Yesterday I candled all three of my peafowl eggs at day 12. Two of them have a dark mass inside but it fills up 1/2 to 3/4 of the egg. Is this a bad sign? I feel that the baby shouldn't be that big at day 12 if they have until day 28 to hatch. My flashlight isn't bright enough to see if there are any veins. Should the baby be that big at day 12? Or are they dead? I candled them at day six and I could see something forming in them so they've definitely changed.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks

Pea eggs are very easy to candle with a proper light. I have a 130+ lumen light and can see through them in the daylight.

By day 12 you should see good veins and a decent air cell. The dark spot you described sounds promising as infertiles will have a yellow glow throughout the egg.
