Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

It has a faux wood texture! It’s not completely smooth. I can wrap it with vet wrap if that’s an issue, I keep a ton on hand for parrot toys and perches.
I wouldn't vet wrap as that potentially could become a hiding spot for mites. Better to take sandpaper to it (if needed) and roughen up the surface to create more grip that way.

I strongly encourage everyone to invest in a $5 disco ball for their coop 😂

The girls slept fine their first night, and have been up and about in the coop all morning.

They elected to sleep in the nest box in a pile instead of using the roosting bars, but I kind of expected that; they actually had a few perches in their brooder pen but they only liked to use them during the day to explore.

I am sorting laundry so we can pack for our trip when the kids get out of school, but once I’m done I’ll go out and finish rolling out the hardware cloth on the run floor so I can put down their bedding, install the ramp, and set up the auto door.

We will see if they can manage the ramp on their own. I tried to make it as gentle a slope as possible and I added crossbars every 6-8 inches or so. If not, they may need to stay in the coop while we are gone unless my mother’s friend who is staying with her does not mind wrangling them. My mom has bad knees and the girls don’t like being picked up yet and tend to scatter.

I’m just relieved to be done! The yard is almost clean; I need to finish up sorting between materials I can use for another project and scraps that I can’t, so I can store the good stuff and drive the rest to the transfer station. Then it’s packing time, cleaning the house, and recaulking the tub, because heaven knows I’ll never hear the end of it if I let my mother stay in there and it’s falling apart 😂😮‍💨
