Okay not so confident now, after watching videos on youtube. My dark spot on some are just yolk sized and so of them in the shots were huge compared to mine. BUT I thought I saw some veins in a couple but I don't know now.

If you can slightly turn the egg...like rotate it ..slowly while on the light...and the speck follows the yolk, then its the embryo.....it's hard to see in the pics.....but if there are veins, then it's okay...soon you'll be able to see the embryo rocking like a rocking chair. If you start to see a pronounced red circle...i mean CIRCLE...not a bunch of veins that might look like a circle...just a plain 'ol red circle, then that is a bad egg. I'd wait a few more days and you'll be sure when you candle again.

here are some useful sites...

I candled for the first time as well with dark brown eggs. Because I was a newbie, I just kept all the eggs until I was sure what I was seeing. It wasn't until day 8 that I was sure there were chicks. By then I was able to cull 5 infertile eggs. Also, I didn't notice a clear air space until then either.

Definitely hold onto the eggs and candle again in a few days... it would be a shame to cull any prematurely.

Try candling on day 7 and again on day 10.

I am going to leave them until I know for sure but mine are alot smaller, the dark spot look the size of a normal egg yolk. I don't know I am going to candle a regular egg, get a different flashlight, and see where I am at after that. Thanks for all the help.
