We went to put the eggs on lockdown and I didn’t see any holes or movement so we took the turning tray out and added water. When we put the lid on we heard a chirp. One peeped. We can see the tiny tip of a beak! Did we just dry it out or will it be able to survive?

How many eggs do you have in inky??? Sometimes chicks hatch out sooner than 21 days. especially if bantam small breeds.
WISHING YOU A GREAT HATCH,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

It should be fine. Watch it incase there are signs of distress later on. As long as you can see the beak, that means it can breath so if it's a healthy chick it shouldn't die during the next day. I had one that I hadn't realized had pipped when I opened the incubator, then I was concerned the membrane had dried out, but in the end I worried for nothing as it hatched totally fine. It can take 24hrs from external pip to zip.

We have 5 leg bars left. Two weren’t fertile. How can you tell if the chick is in distress? There hasn’t been much activity.
