So I recently hatched some quailies, and hatched June 28 day 18 of the incubation period. She hatched by herself with no help and seemed rather healthy besides wanting to sleep all the time and would always find some kind of crevice to nap in. Today I checked on then and she was laying down in her water bowl by the edge gasping for air and the other chick decided the best course of action is to jump on her back. We later took her and her friend to our farm to hang out with us because they were being a bit iffy and we were worried about them getting pasty butt but on the way home I looked at her and she wasn't moving and was only panting with her eyes closed laying on the bottom of her box not sure what to do at first we thought that she was to hot or or had a bad reaction to the electrolights or probiotics we put in their distilled water any ideas? I'm sitting here with her and she's doing okay... Better than before.

TLDR- chick laying in water bowl acting weird, took her and her friend with us to our farm, on they way home she was laying down breathing heavily, what do I need to do?

Hi, so sorry about your chick. I don't know much about quail. How is the chick today? Maybe post a pic of the chick and your set-up to give more experienced folks a better picture (haha) of what's going on.

She passed shortly after the post, I figured I would leave it up in case anyone else was in a similar situation. As soon as she hatched she was always interested in sleeping and wasn't to interested in food or water. Now the next thing to do is figured out to do with the other one since he doesn't have a friend anymore . I'll keep him company as best I can now

Earlier that morning I actually saw that I took her out and she seemed fine but I guess not.... Any tips on what to do if that ever happens again or how to comfort the other chick they were really close and those were the only 2 I hatched (it's my first time hatching and raising quail, or any creature that hatched out of an egg....)

Alright I have been looking for quail chicks but I can't seem to find any button quail Chicks for sale and I did put pebbles in the water but what I'm doing now is putting less water in as well that way he/she doesn't fall and get water in his/her nostril

Yeah that seems like my best bet he/she won't pick on them right? He/She will be like a month old by then.
