Only lived about 3 hours... Too bad too, it was a pure araucana.

I tried to hatch out 3 pure araucanas and only got one. One pipped and died and one died around day 18. They are very difficult to hatch... rates are low.

Mine fought hard for 48 hours and I thought she was doing well and boom- gone. Lesson candle well before cracking eggs open. She was under cooked and should have left her alone. Hard lesson to learn!

Leave them in the egg to long without trying to help them out and they die too. I usually err on the side of intervening if they havn't started hatching on the due date, I think intervening and helping them out of the shell results in more live chicks/ducklings in the ones I've helped. But it's always sad to lose one we try to help out and they don't make it.
